The windscreen wash/wipe system is operated by a stalk switch on the right side of the steering wheel. The stalk switch can be set to five positions that correspond to different functions:
The intermittent operation may be further determined by the rain and dim light sensor which, when the stalk unit lever is set to the intermittent position, transmits its signal to the windscreen wiper control unit. Messages between the sensor and windscreen wiper control unit are transmitted via the A-BUS serial line. By adjusting the ring nut on the end of the windsceen wiper lever, you can adjust the sensor sensitivity to 4 levels (intermittent/sensitivity ring nut), so selecting the minimum level of water to control wiping. When the sensitivity increases, if the windscreen wiper is not in operation, the stalk unit gives the instruction for one wipe at the first speed, as feedback that the command has been implemented. Thus the frequency of wipes is automatically adjusted in accordance with the quantity of water detected on the windscreen by the sensor. If the rain and dim light sensor is faulty or there is no signal on the A-BUS serial line, the stalk unit controls the windscreen wiper manually. The windscreen washer logic in 'intelligent' mode is as follows:
During starting (INT/A), the device is temporarily excluded. The windscreen wipe and wash can only be activated in key-on condition (INT), while in key-off (stop) the functions are disabled. |
The windscreen wiper stalk of the stalk unit H005selects the various operating modes of the windscreen wash/wipe. Stalk unit H005is supplied at pin 11 of connector A by relay R12: ignition-operated line INT/A, protected by fuse F43: both are contained in under-facia junction unit B002. The supply to relay R12comes from a direct line protected by fuse F1contained in engine bay junction unit B001.Stalk unit H005Depending on the pre-selected function, the stalk unit H005 (connector A) sends the following control signals to the internal electronic device to the windscreen wiper motor N015:
is earthed at pin 7 of connector A. The windscreen wiper motor N015is then connected to earth at pin 2. Stalk unit H005also supplies windscreen/rear window wiper pump N022by sending a supply signal and an an earth signal from pins 12 and 10 of connector A. The signal to enable the intermittent function via the rain sensor K125 is sent on the A-BUS line from pin 4 connector A of the stalk unit H005.On the same line the body computer M001acquires the windscreen wiper on/off status and a possible fault in the rain sensor. The sensor K125is supplied at pin 1 of the ignition-dependent line INT protected by fuse F49contained in the junction unit under the facia B002. contenuto nella centralina di derivazione sotto plancia B002. |
